Re: New IG Pool in Cypress Texas! *New Pics 7/31/13*
That's a very unusual look for your plumbing at the equipment. I can't understand why they did the high loops. I would suggest they move the chlorinator from in front of the heater. I couldn't see the pump(s) being used, but hopefully they are variable speed. For a pool that size, you could have gone with a single configuration for the pool and spa...in case anyone else is planning to build this type. On your sanitation, there is a 3rd alternative to salt or chlorine. The majority of my pools are built with ozone created through UV light (this is NOT the corona discharge type that doesn't perform as well in our Houston climate). You do need a chlorinator with it, but the chlorine demand is very low. Swimming in ozonated water is like swimming in bottled water. As a matter of fact, check the labels on some of the "purified water" you buy at the grocery...it was likely created through ozone. This type replicates salt water in the way that it is good on the skin, eyes, etc. Salt water feels a little silkier, but it is hard on any natural stone (and even your equipment). Ozone should cost you no more than a salt pool. I use a type of ozone system that has a bypass to keep the ozonated water from going through the plumbing or the rest of the equipment. Introducing air into a pump can dry out the seals and cause your pump to fail. If you have any other questions, I'll be glad to offer my two cents!
