I have an ultraframe 18x 52 intex that I have had for 7 years. The original intex pump with sand filter is acting up. It sometimes doesn't want to turn on, other times is fine. This has prevented me from using the timer. I will probably purchase a new intex pool for next year and I want to limp this pool through the year.. there is a hayward powerflo sp1580z2 available on local marketplace, nib. Could.this work for my pool? I think the hayward is a 1.5 hp, but I also read it doesn't have an on/off or timer and a short 6 foot cord. What say you???

It should work fine. But check to ensure it's got a 2-speed motor. If it's a single speed I would avoid it unless you're not worried about the higher electric consumption. I have a 2-speed Powerflo Matrix and it's always on low speed.
