Just reading along for the most part.
Purchased a deeply discounted home with a long ignored vinyl liner inground +/-12,000 gallon. It was really green with a nice assortment of aquatic wild life and an undocumented cut off, buried, and as yet unfound plumbing system courtesy of prior owners (a spectacularly vindictive divorce - movie material). So far I am making progress - lots of net work, a Rube Goldberg rigged up filter setup to at least get it circulating and a serious dose of chemicals has us to a cloudy blue. My kids are now viewing it with a "this might really work" look in their eyes.
