My original Hayward board is G1-066012F-1 Rev A. 2012. Recently we’ve been having salt reading problems and since I replaced the thermistor a couple years ago I decided to just get a new board.

I went cheap and bought off-brand PCB. Install was easy and quick. But upon startup I get error messages I have never seen before and my system is not generating chlorine. I have a TCELL940 which i have setup as both a t-15 and a t-9 with similar results.

I also get a SLo reading and no flow. I also can’t figure out how to reset the salt readings as I don’t get the click sound after startup.

Should I bite the bullet and by Hayward?

Welcome to TFP.

We cannot do anything with the cheap Chinese knockoff boards sold on Amazon.

Best if you return it and buy a Hayward board.

OK, out with the Chinese board and back to my original board. Same issue is that it is reading low salt and not maintaining chlorine. Is there a fix at board level for this? Is there a way to calibrate salt reading? We have reliable salt readings at about 4000. Thanks

Thanks. Yes, had this but this did not help. Still under 1000. I read that high salt could screw up the board calculations. I’m sure that since we were reading low that we added too much salt. New Hayward board on order.

Dunno where you read that. It was not here.

You should have a salt test kit like the Taylor K-1766.

OK, got the Hayward PCB and after resetting and waiting 48 hours the PCB salt reading is still around 1000 and the check salt light is on. No chlorine generation. K-1766 reading at 3800. Does this mean the TCELL 940 is the culprit? It’s clean and less than 3 years old. Serial 4E21342….

Yup, Take it to a Pool Store that can test Hayward cells and make a warranty claim. You have a 4 year warranty on a 2021 cell.

No, the quickest way is to plug it in to a tester at Leslies. Just don't let them sell you anything unless it's a new T-15 cell which will be $899 from anywhere due to their advertised pricing guidelines for dealers. Anyone claiming a lower price for a T-15 cell is likely to be a clone because if Hayward finds anyone selling under $899 they lose their distributorship. When you take the cell off you may find it covered in calcium which can cause this issue too. Let us know if that's what you find. It sounds like you're new to AZ and not used to how much your AC runs. Get yourself on a Time of Use plan which will save you money, especially if you are on SRP power. Also try to keep your AC above 80 with ceiling fans on for more cooling.
