New, from north texas, switiching to salt water

Hello, I'm switching to salt water, and have no idea what to do. Ive been told to shock it, while filing it up.We have well water, Dont want to go to pool store as I feel they screw my pool up even worse.
we are using ~ BESTWAY FLOWCLEAR HYDROGENIC 6 G/H SALTWATER CHLORINATOR 58677E

Welcome to TFP! If you didn't already know, well water usually has iron which can be a pain. Have some polyfill available if you should see water color changes or staining. Place the polyfill inte skimmer to try and catch some of it. Pre-filter the hose water if possible too.

See the links below to help get you started. Be sure to have a proper test kit. That's key! Can't emphasize that enough. Also remember to add salt and let it acclimate to the water for 24 hours BEFORE turning on the SWG.
