I've been running my pool with the same equipment for 15 years and our filter is now in need of repair. The metal assembly clamp and nut were stripped entirely and now no longer clamp/screws in. They clearly need to be replaced, but this posits the question of whether I'm better off buying a brand new filter at this point (CCP320) or if I should merely purchase the broken assembly pieces.

Based on the data I found online, the costs involved:
  • 1k Brand new complete filter replacement
  • 0.4k Replacement clamp & screw set
With a 15 year life, it seems like it's not a bad run for it under rather sunny conditions and it's not clear how much life the other parts of the filter still have in them. My filter cartridges are 2-3 years old, so a new set is probably in the cards in 1-2 year ($150) and the main housing is as expected pretty turn up by branches that have fallen on it over time as well as just regular sun wear/poky glass shards fiberglass we all hate.

Thoughts on the better move here?

My personal threshold is 50%.

If the repair costs more then 50% of replacement cost I get it new.

With new cartridges you are past 50%.
