New Filter is showing 1 pressure but flow is good

Hey all,

First time post! I'm not sure if I have an issue or not. I have an in-ground pool that's about 13k gallons. I have a Pentair pump that was put in by a pool pro (I think it's 3/4 HP). Now my Hayward Star Cleaner C800 pool filter housing cracked open. It was rated for 80sqft. After doing some reading, I came across that the filter was pretty underrated for my pool and pump. So I opted to buy a Pentair Clean and Clear 150 (160317). I installed it myself which wasn't difficult at all.

Now, I turned on the power, motor is running, water is flowing. My pool looks like and feels like real good water flow BUT the pool filter gauge show 1 pressure. I opened Main valve, closed it, opened skimmer, closed it, have all open together, still 0. In either case, water still appears to be flowing pretty good. Do you guys think there is something wrong, or did I buy too big of a filter? Any ideas?

I hope I explained the situation correctly, I'm a pool newb.

David,

Filter PSI is really a measure of how hard it is to push water through the filter.. Lower is always better, as long as you have good flow..

I would suggest that you replace the 60 lb. gauge with a 30 lb. gauge, if you want..

Thanks,

Jim R.
