New Fill off city water

Most tests last at least one swim year.

How are you testing your salinity now?
I'm not testing it at the moment as I haven't put any salt into my pool yet. I'm in the same boat as Snmobley - filling new pool off city water. You responded to my thread yesterday a couple of times (thank you so much). I don't want to hijack this thread tho. I put 30 CYA and brought my FC to around 5. I'm going to bring my CYA up to 70 tomorrow (via liquid form) as I'm working today. Then I planned on adding 200kg of pool salt (18,500 gallon pool). And let the filter run for 24 hours before turning on my SWCG. I have ordered a k1766 from Amazon, but like the K2006 I ordered yesterday it won't be here till mid June. Can I use strips or buy a cheaper version of the K1766 to test for salt until it arrives?

You can try salt test strips. They may work OK when new. But will degrade rapidly due to humidity. If you can just sneek up on the salt level that makes your SWCG happy, then you are OK. The K1766 comes in handy later for when your SWCG says low salt. You want to confirm that the salinity is really low as SWCG failure modes typically start with reporting low salt.

Ok great. Thanks for moving my posts. Do you know of a calculator to tell me how much salt to add for my pool or just go with the 200kg and take it from there?
