New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

1. Yes, I have a vinyl pool. (20x40 Lazy L) no issues at all.
3. It comes with a 60’ cord
4. I highly recommend the fine filter, it is worth the $50.
5. You can set up in the app a daily schedule to run. I have ours to come on daily at 8am. You’ll get a notification 2.5ish hours later when it’s done.
Thanks for the response Jim.....I will order it online at Marina. Not sure there is any reason for me to call as this thread pretty much answers all my questions.

After owning one of these for over a year I'm reasonably happy with it. I do think it's strange though that I never see these recommended anywhere else on the internet except here. I'm not saying people recommend against them... it just doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar except here. LOL

Has anybody figured out a way to get theirs to clean for more than 2.5 hours in wall/floor mode, or 1.5 hours in floor mode? It seems like such an unusual arbitrary limitation in this day, since I'm finding my 20x40 pool is still typically not sufficiently cleaned after a 2.5 hour cycle.

Also, ours frequently gets itself up onto our wet deck (around 8" of water deep), does a wheelie, and then sends a help message to our app for somebody to go back and toss it back into the pool and tell it to start again. Any suggestions to avoid this? Our neighbors bought one just like ours and their pool has more shallow areas and they just completely gave up on using wall mode as a result of the constant baby sitting. In floor only mode it works fine for them.

Threxx,

2.5 hours should be plenty to clean your pool...

What is it that it has to clean up??

It makes sense to me that if the pool was really dirty, it might take a couple of cycles.. But once that happens, I would think that 2.5 hours would be plenty..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Can anyone answer this for me, please?

OK I am within microns on pulling the trigger on either the Evo 614 (at about 8 bills) or the Dolphin Premier (around 13 bills-factory refurbished), but I have a few still lingering questions that although I have tried to read through as much of this whole thread I haven't seen an answer.

First the Premier touts that it has "4 filter options — "NanoFilters", Oversized Leaf Bag, Standard Filters, and Disposable Debris Bags" all of which are appealing to me in particular the "NanoFilters" and the oversized leaf bag, which one reviewer said, the Premier is able to filter out "bushels" of leaves. I live in a dusty, pollen prone area and my pool often has pine needles and copious amounts of leaves when certain winds blow through here. I also have a property with several large afghan pines which send out tons of pollen. A nano or ultra fine particle filtration is one of my requirements. Now I know from reading here that the Evo offers an extra fine filter. I wonder if that is enough or do I need the "NanoFilter", (NF). Is NF merely a marketing term that Dolphin is using? Does anyone know the micron rating of the NF, Does anyone know the micron rating of the Evo 614 using the extra fine filter, will an even finer filter be offered at a later date, etc. ?

Second, the Premier, is said to have dual commercial grade motors. Can someone comment here on the grade or quality of the Evo motor, please? Reading its spec's the Evo has one motor. Is this a big deal? a deal breaker? How much better or worse are two motors?

They also brag about Premier's advanced navigation and ability to clean above the water-line. Not so sure as to how important the above the water line is to me but just wondering how Evo compares.

In short, is the price difference of the Evo, worth what you don't get or seemingly don't get from the Premier?

Thanks!!!

Rob

My advice is to don't over think this. I am coming from a Dolphin M600 and the EVO appears to clean just as good as the M600. Its just a good solid robot at a good price compared to the dolphin models.

Rob,

I had the Dolphin Premier and what they say is all marketing.. Pretty much total Bull Feathers..

Let's make sure we are on the same page.. Please show me a pic of the 'Premier' that you plan to buy.. I ask, because my Premier was an older design when I bought it about 8 or 10 years ago... I want to make sure the we are talking about the same robot...

If it looks like this...

It is older than dirt... Half the robot the EVO is..

That said, I used it for 5 or 6 years and it works, but just not near as well as my EVO.

The EVO costs less, has a better cable, a better top loading basket, etc, etc..

Buy whatever floats your boat..

Edit... If you just want a Dolphin, but the S200 style.. Even that is better than the older Premier..

Thanks,

Jim R.
