New Construction - Unbrella Sleeve

Had a few questions about umbrella sleeves?

1. Have you ever installed an umbrella sleeve on a raised wall in the pool coping?

2. When are these typically installed in the deck during construction and by which trade?

3. If we put a couple in the pool, at what point do we install the sleeve? After/before gunite?

Thanks

We have three umbrella sleeves in the pool in the sun shelf. During Gunite the holes were made to receive the sleeves, but no sleeves were installed, the final sleeves weren't installed until the plaster was applied.

We don't have sleeves installed in the concrete pool decking, but I would guess deck sleeves would be installed when the deck is poured and would be done by the concrete guys.
If it was to be installed in a raised wall, I'd presume it would be who ever constructed the raised wall.

I have a similar question as we are starting our dig this Wednesday. It'll be freeform and oriented in an east-west direction. My shallow end will be on the east side of the pool and regular umbrellas will not provide us much coverage there in the afternoon. Does anyone have a recommendation for a sleeve for an offset umbrella? The only one I've seen is for the Treasure Garden AKZ, but those umbrellas are $1100....

By offset do you mean at an angle? All of my umbrellas can angle with a builtin joint in the umbrella shaft. I don't think you'd want to do this with the sleeve.

ok just looked up the treasure garden. I think you mean cantilevered? I found the below at HD. I don't think you would want to put a cantilevered umbrella in a sleeve unless it was hardened to take the extra stress.

Yeah, I guess it's called cantilever also. So I'm not expecting to put one in a standard umbrella sleeve. I'm looking for something model specific. Like this Screenshot_20180207-012142.jpg

This one requires a 3 foot deep footing which is fine since it's new construction. Just the umbrellas are really pricey. I would like to be able to eliminate the base because the large footprint will take up half the width of our deck...

Another thing to consider is the below. That is what we are going with this summer.
