New construction in Houston, Tx ** Trying to complete punch list**

That is amazing to go from nothing to gunite in 2-3 days! The only downside is it doesn't give you much time to look over everything. Make sure you double check everything as much as you can in the little time that you will have available.

I have spent the whole day out here going over everything with them as they went along. I caught on small error and they were quick to fix it. They accidentally made the bench in the deep end to small to have the step out for our dogs, but they have it taken care now.

I'm actually somewhat disappointed with the tanning ledge. In the renderings the tanning ledge was large enough for a pair of ledge loungers, but in reality it is barely large enough for one. It looks more like we are building an underground sidewalk in our pool than what we planned. I think the measurements had to have been off somewhere when the design was done and we dont have enough space in the yard to have it the way it was designed.

We have gunite!!

Did you verify the measurements? Check the plans vs. the actual. If the actual is smaller, and cannot be made to the plans due to the available space, you should be owed some compensation for the reduction. My builder actually had these rates built into the contract. So much $$ per inch of variance. Your cost is directly related to the dimensions, since they use them to determine material and labor.

Wow very nice you didn't get delayed! Makes for much less stress. Any pictures of the finished gunite? Also enjoy the watering! I gave up after 2-3 times a day for 7 days 😂
Really happy to have been able to get this far finally after all the delays. I may actually be able to swim before Christmas! Here are a few pics of the finished gunite, as soon as the crew left the inspection crew showed up, lol. We now have a few paw prints in the gunite. We will have to keep them from inspecting the quartz for an extra day or two, that should be fun.

wow that really turned out great, i really love the curved spillover ledge from the spa! we also have 4 large dogs so it has been fun managing them so far and im dreading decking day + kool deck day when I can't let them out back at all. before we started our build i told our PB i need a solution for the dogs, so we have that orange contractor plastic fencing running across our patio and put up gates to give them a sectioned off part of our yard. I really hope they want to swim with me when it's all done though :)

Few more pics

Yeah, we have 4 too, and they are not liking having to be on leashes in their own backyard while there are workers here. We thought about the construction fence, but I am not sure it would hold these guys back. They get pretty excited about people being in the yard.

I thought the same thing with mine. though we go out with them into the backyard every time still, and they have broken through it 2 times when we weren't paying enough attention but oh well, at least they didnt get out of the yard completely. I think they've gotten used to all the random laborers in the backyard as they quit barking when we take them out and now just sniff and stare at the edge of the metal fence in their penned off section haha.
i think at this rate we will both be swimming by halloween at least!

He seems to think that if you measure diagonally it is the size that we were told. We had a talk about it yesterday, but no resolution to the problem yet. His contract doesn't say anything about refunds for loss of area, so I am not sure what options I have. He did make it a little larger before the gunite, but if it were the size we expected that ledge would be in my firepit. We planned for 2 ledge loungers on the ledge and will probably only be able to fit one

Day two of watering the gunite. Does anyone know what these two lower pipes on the deep end are for? I don't see them mentioned on the drawings.

Do you have a separate pump for water feature(s)? One could be a dedicated suction line for them, if you do.

Did you take pictures of the plumbing before gunite was shot? How are those two pipes plumbed back to the pad?
