New Build - Vinyl Pool - Final Planning Prep - Digging Stage

Hi all,

Reviving this thread again as our dig will begin this week or next, weather pending here in Ontario.

Asked my PB for a quick list of the equipment he is providing me and I do not know much about these items yet, although I intend on doing my research and learning... but wanted to ask all of you for thoughts and opinions. I have been told by others/relatives who have pools, and they suggest go bigger and better for everything, so feel free to share thoughts with me:

All Hayward:
250K BTU Heater
Variable Speed 32900
Cartridge Filter 30/30 or 30/40
Omni Logic Panel

PB suggests some possible upgrades as follows:
350K BTU Heater
Variable Speed 32950
Cartirdge Filter 30/50

Let me know thoughts, comments or questions. Newbie here.....

Thanks

One more item: waterfall... we have a 33' bench running the full length of the pool and are deciding if we want to build a waterfall feature wall right behind it that will run the full 33' and have 3-4 sheers.

PB is offering in sheer lighting or lighting in between sheers. Wondering what others have or thoughts/comments/experiences with the different lighting on waterfalls/walls.

Also curious if anyone else has a waterfall that is falling onto a bench and their comments/experience with that setup and if its a nice set up or would take away from the bench.

Thanks in advance.

Figure out how much GPM the waterfalls will require and where you will get the flow from.

Will you put in s dedicated water feature pump?

Thank you and thanks everyone for their comments, input thus far.

Digging begins tomorrow - super excited!

33' x 15' pool w/ 16" bench running along the full length of pool (33'). Wall w/ sheer waterfalls to run behind bench side likely 25-33' - TBD when stone work begins.

1. Anyone have a custom set up like this with feedback from personal use/experience or photos - wall/waterfall running length of pool and on top of custom bench

2. Depths - was told by PB will be around 3-3.5' at bottom of steps (depending on height at skimmer)... just have to finalize how deep we want to go. Wife and I were thinking of maximizing shallow end area of around 4' depth for as much as we can and then having around 6-6.5' deepend. Anyone have a similar set up? Any comments on doing jumps/cannonballs into this depth?

Last year, I helped my friend build his pool, and he decided to add a waterfall/planter wall along one side. His wall features three sheer descents — one 36" and two 24" — all running on a dedicated pump with OMNIPL automation.
I'm also attaching a picture of my own waterfall wall for reference. Mine isn’t directly along the pool; I have one 36" sheer in the center and two 18" sheers on the sides, powered by a separate pump as well. Let me know if you have any questions or if you’d like to see more pictures!
For some extra details: my deep end is about 5.5 feet deep, and that's the side with the waterfall wall. The kids and even adults love jumping off the top of the wall, which was actually one of the main reasons I decided to build it. You can also check out a full-size photo of the pool in my signature. I decided i wanted the bench on other side of the pool which works well for my situation.

Very nice! Thank you!

We have decided to do a 25’ wall with sheer waterfalls on the side with the bench. Just deciding on number of sheers, sheer sizes and placement right now. How does your friends look with the different size sheers?

Also was asked by PB if I wanted to add an extra return. So far there are only 2. You or anyone have thoughts?

On my pool as well as my friends pool we did 4 returns along the bench. they act like jets especially when heater is on. people love sitting along the bench when heater is on. i have total of 7 returns . my drawing attached. i'll see if i can get my friends to send me pic with waterfalls running.
