Hi fellow TFP! We are building a ~6000 gallon pool in the coming months. No spa. From lurking on the group, it seems like the SWG is a relatively simple add. However, our builder is quoting us about $2700 and also said we need to add a power subpanel and automation. He said even without adding more automation (we are set to build 4, he suggested we upgrade to 6), "it would basically be about the same as adding one now." Currently, we are set to build in all Jandy equipment. He didn't mention which model of SWG it will be nor the sizing either. I thought the price is a bit high and also needing a power subpanel. Any feedback and recommendations of the make/model would be very appreciated!

The devil is in the details and it sounds like your builder provided no details on what is being changed for the $2,700.

"build 4, upgrade to 6"??? what does that mean?

SWG does not require automation. SWG does require that it not be powered when the pool pump is off. That does require a timer, or automation, or a Jandy TruClear SWG connected to a Jandy VS pump using Flow Monitoring.

Jandy makes two SWG models - Aquapure and TruClear.

In addition to what Allen said above....

Suggest you have the PB state - on the contract - the exact manufacturer and model number for all equipment, along with all other details of the build.
Then you will know exactly what is supposed to be installed.
