New build in N. Ft. Worth (pics inside)

Outdoor ones probably cost MANY times as much and last somewhat longer. The math probably doesn't work in their favor.

From everything I've read and researched a normal tv is the way to go. Keep it out of the elements under a patio and maybe cover it with a bbq grill cover when not in use. I'm picking up a 40" on Black Friday for our patio.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Add patio lights and a gas-space heater. Still learning how to do pool maintenance and such. Builder built our pool and just took off! Took three weeks of me repeatedly asking for Pool School to finally get it, and they literally rushed through everything. If I didn't have such a beautiful pool, I would be miserable right now. Hopefully this BBB situation will turn out ok. Builder hasn't responded in two weeks now.

Nice touch with the tv! However, I thought you had to use an outdoor tv because of the heat and humidity. Anyone know? Good idea to look for a Black Friday deal!

I've had this 32" laying around for years so I decided to put it up. I plan on putting up a 40" and will keep it covered when not in use. So far, this 32" is still working after being out (under patio) in freezing temps, some rain water, etc.

Beautiful pool :) Love pic heavy posts! Quick questions:

I really like the fence you have for your kids -- What kind is it? Is it temporary fencing? Cost? I have small kids of my own and will need a fence as well and yours looks perfect for enclosing the porch area until they're old enough.

Thanks!

I'm so sorry this company took off after payment. Did you know the wall looked so bad when you made full n final payment? I hope the BBB will make him want to get this cleared up pronto!

The fence is 4' wrought-iron bolted to the decking, and was $800 for a 16'x10' area. Wide gates are on both sides of the fence. I was very happy with the fence contractor!

I knew the wall looked bad, but the builder was very responsive at the time (prior to final draw) and was seemingly open to resolving the conflict. After final draw was made, the only was to get in contact with him has been through the BBB - that was until two weeks ago. Even on the BBB complaint it states that the company's response is past due. I responded on Nov 18th, and have yet to hear anything.

I provided pictures and the builder tried to say that my pictures were outdated! So, I provided the same pictures with a time and date stamp, and signed by me. No response yet

Outdated huh?! What a tool. His reputation must mean very little to him. Such a shame. I hope you get some resolution out of him. He doesn't sound very promising though. Ugh....

Update: Still no reply from the builder. Anyone have any experience in BBB's arbitration? I figure this is the last thing I can do before taking it a step forward to small claims. It's been 31 days without response from the builder - and this is through BBB.

10/9: Complaint to builder about back-side of wall veneer
11/4: Complaint filed to BBB after no-reply for two weeks from builder
11/20: Date of my last reply via BBB to builder
12/21: Still no response from builder. BBB asked me if I was interested in Arbitration, seeing as this dispute is not going to be resolved easily.

Do whatever you can, even if it means a small claim.

I'd be highly upset if this were my pool. I'm so sorry!!!

It's extremely frustrating. I haven't been able to lay down any sod or turf around the pool because when they do fix the back wall, they will make such a big mess and ruin any sod or turf I put down, and the builder said if they do fix it, they would clean and grade top soil again. So it's just dirt and every time it rains it gets so muddy. I don't understand how a builder can claim that this work is "high quality standards". I just don't get it.

Document everything. Find another contractor to complete the job and file a law suit in small claims for the amount it cost to complete then job. Stop wasting time and holding up other projects. Once the builder gets notified of the law suit, he will run to get the job done by then your new contractor will be done and tell him "see you in court"! For the cherry on top, use social media and give his company an honest review of his business practices.

But how will I recoup my money spent on new contractor? Will the builder have to reimburse me?

The only thing the builder keeps stating in everyone of his replies is, "we've always done the back wall this way." But in my contract, there is nothing that states brown stucco or anything. All it says is "SPA and WALL Veneer: Oklahoma Flagstone"

Perhaps if the wall was done decent I would be a little forgiving, but it's not, as evidenced by pictures.

You may be able to recover the cost a
nd damages in small claims court if you hire someone else to,finish the work. What does your contract spell out in case of a dispute.

Basically that anything arising in regards to this contract shall be tried and litigated in a court in Dallas county, which doesn't make any sense because we are both located in Tarrant county.

Not surprising. Try to make it inconvenient for a customer to take a dispute to that level. It probably makes sense to the PB.
