Yes, they are moving right along...yesterday they finished up leveling the pool and making sure everything was ready for the footers:



They filled up each of the poles (not sure what the proper term is for them...) with concrete:



They also got the equipment in place:



Today they began to run the lines from returns and lights and put the skimmers in:



It's coming along! :)

Thank you Kim! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. It is so nice to hear good feedback. I know nothing about this process aside from what I've learned here - and so many of the pools are gunite. And they are beautiful! Just wasn't for us. I am a worrier by nature, so I really value the reassurance!

I was surprised - the concrete behind the wall completely fills in the bottom of the "trench" that was dug out behind the walls. In addition to the "poles" being filled. I'm pretty sure it's here to stay! :)

From what I've read, the polymer walls should give you great peace of mind. I've seen others on this forum who have replaced their liners and found rust on steel framed pools. Not that steel can't still be good, but rust is just one less thing to have to deal with when you have to replace the liner (hopefully many) years down the road!

I love all the color choices for liners. Have you got to that decision yet?
 
We did the polymer walls also, for exactly the reason stated above - I didn't want to be concerned about the steel rusting. So far so good but we are very early in the process and we completed our build two months ago!

Eeeeekkk! So excited! My additional test supplies came today. I ordered the FAS/DPD kit from the TFTestkits.net site as recommended here. Super fast shipping - I ordered it on Saturday afternoon and it arrived today. Now I want to test some water! :)

They look to have finished up the plumbing today. And the inspector came out to confirm the ground wire is present...(I think I worded that correctly...)

Here are the 4 pipes for the deck jets. We decided to put them on the side where we will have less "social" space. That way if the kiddos are splashing around the grown ups can be on the opposite side enjoying adult beverages... :) Builder says they can turn 360 degrees...should be interesting...please don't tell my kids! LOL!!



This is like tinker toys for grown ups. These pipes go every which way...turning here, going up there...

I tested our tap water. We're on a well and have a water softener. It tested 0 chlorine...pH - that was really difficult for me to tell...it could be anywhere from 7.6 - 8. I'll have to work on getting better to read that one...TA I think was 120 and CH was 140...

More progress on the build! They got all the plumbing done and the backfilling is done. The decking crew is here as I type forming up for our concrete - that is scheduled to be poured Thursday.

Sara I have a tip for you for the PH. I will tell you how I do it.

-I do mine inside over my stove. I have a bright light in my range hood.

-When I am looking at the test tube with the test water in it I hold it up so that it is right under the light.

-I hold a white plate behind the test.

-I pull the white plate back and forth until I can match the color to the test. I have found that I need to hold it at eye level and pull the plate back and forth a few times to make the match.

I hope this helps.

I've missed so much of your build, and I live the vinyl builds. They fascinate me!

Your home and property are beautiful - such a wonderful area for a pool. The kids are going to have a blast in the pool. You know it's going to be non-stop kids during swim season!!

I am very eager to see everything come together!

I am sadder than sad. We have not had rain in months, and I feel like a real turd for not appreciating it! But we were all prepped and ready for our concrete decking to be poured tomorrow morning bright and early...until flooding rains came yesterday and especially today. They even had to cancel open house at school!

So...builder says no worries, and he will be out Sunday afternoon to take a look and hopefully be able to prep and pour on Monday morning.

I would love some feedback from ones that have been thru this. We paid a lot for extra decking because we've seen this crew's work and they make even just "plain" concrete look fantastic. So my gut tells me they will do a quality job. But I am a worrier!

This has to be 6" washed away in places...





 
Hugs! Now breath...................it will be fine. Just make sure the compact the dirt good. They know what they are doing and will do a great job! Express your concerns and have him tell you what they will do to make sure their is no settling in the washed out areas.

I'm no expert, but I bet the rain has helped compact the soil that is already there, and when they add more dirt to level it off, then compact even more, you'll be in even better shape for a good deck pour than before the rain. The delays stink, but it will be great in the end!

Compared to some of the horror stories this is small potatoes. The builder popped in today to set the pump back up so it could get rid of the 4' of water in the deep end...it's a swamp!

They are all telling me the same thing - no worries and that this will just make the base under our deck that much more compacted. Now the hubby just has to get the toys out and go dig up a little more fill dirt! :)

What a difference a couple days and some sunshine makes!

We have concrete! I just love our deck! Can not WAIT to put out some furniture and enjoy this new space.

The crew came back out and fixed all the washed away areas and prepped the deck...then this morning they were here at 6:30am to get the concrete poured.

Here it is with the cantilever forms in place...



They began with the concrete on our pad for the spa...we decided on a free-standing unit...no spillover for us...



They did quite a bit wheelbarrow load by load...filling in piers around the outer edges of the deck...they spent a lot of time with the pad, making sure it was level for the spa...



This part was great (well, I thought it was). As the concrete was poured to the edges of the pool one fella would "tap, tap, tap" with the piece of wood to be sure it got in all the space...wait till you see the end!



A couple of the guys did all this detail work by hand...builder called it "hand-tooling" the edge around the pool...



And here is one fella measuring around the perimeter for the hand-tooling...



I wondered how in the world this man would get out! He spent a LOT of time inside the pool cleaning up the inner edge of the deck. LOVE this!

We are so happy with this work! All the crews have said that all the rain was the best thing to happen for our deck. It just made it that much more compacted. More clean up to happen tomorrow...
