New audio system for new pool and pavillion

Hi guys, I am a total newby when it comes to audio systems (even though I had my old Ford Ranger set up back in the day with a couple of Rockford Fosgate 12"s and a Punch 150!)

Anyway, I was hoping you guys can help me with a setup. I am less concerned about brands at this point and mainly interested in system components for what I need. Below are my requirements.

1. Two speaker zones (one for the pool and one for a covered patio/outdoor kitchen) with the ability to control volume for each zone.
2. Ability to broadcast AM/FM, as well as stream from various online sources. Prefer not to have to use a mobile device as source of streaming audio but not a deal breaker.
3. Bonus: Ability to to connect to an outdoor TV

I will also be looking at installing a WiFi extender for coverage of the pool/patio area.

Sonos has a new piece that has an hdmi input on it so I assume you can use the arc output to send audio to the sonos.

Sonos will give you all ur streaming accounts. Along with am/fm via the app for radio built in. I forgot the name now. You just throw your zip code in and it pulls up all the locals. For a matter you can throw in any zip code and listen to local radio of that area. It’s a free app also.

Sonos will cover pretty much everything you mention. You can use one of thier other units for the other zone without a tv.

So pretty much 2 units. 1 for each zone.
 
I have Sonos and am very happy with it. For me, the plus is it runs independent of the phone. Something like Google Chromecast audio runs from the phone and even though it's not a deal breaker for you, it drove me crazy (I had it as a cheap option until I saved up for Sonos). If I wanted to watch a YouTube video or I got a call it went over my speakers. If you have a phone or device you can dedicate to the sound system as a remote than you can save a lot of money (certainly worth trying at first).

Sounds like you want to stream music, in my opinion, Sonos is worth looking at. You could add the “in ceiling” or “wall mount” speakers along with a multi channel amp and a Sonos Connect and simplify the convenience of your streaming. My bet is you’d be far ahead cost wise as well.

I just added two more outdoor Yamaha speakers to my receiver, I send the TV sound through a simple receiver and then out to two set of speakers. I am not broadcasting a concert, now I can hear the TV while sitting in the pool and not blow away people on the patio.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information. I think my greatest concern is to be able to independently control volume for my swimming pool speakers versus the speakers in my outdoor kitchen. Would the Sonos connect amp be able to do this?
 
Yes for sure. You can also easily play the same thing at both locations or different programs at each at the same time. It’s easy to switch music/programming and adjust volume.

If u use 2 independent units or volume controls. Not if all speakers r hooked up to 1 unit without volume controls.
 
+1 for Sonos. I have a Play 1 speaker in the kitchen and a Connect AMP powering speakers in the garage and by the pool. Plan on adding another connect amp this summer for speakers on the back porch. It is a fantastic but pricey system. You get what you pay for.
As for your comment on a wifi extender - is the pool/patio area already built or is this a work in progress? If it is a work in progress, have a conduit installed so you can run network wire from the house and put a wireless access point out there. A wire is always preferred over a wifi extender, if you can manage it.

Connect amp is on sale currently to make room for the new amp, might be a good time to pick one up. Also the Sonos Boost might work for the op, I use one for my connect amp that’s out in the pool house and have the Boost hooked up to my router inside and it works great.

I didn't even know they had released a new amp. Where do you see the connect amp on sale?
 
I'm still a fan of the google home max, ability to do anything the google home can do and a very powerful speaker as well. All hands free voice controlled, anything from making phone calls to controlling tv's & playing security cameras on them, communicating to my wife inside that I need something, asking information, turning up the thermostat so I don't freeze when I go in the house (after being in the pool), and of course all the music you have access to. It also controls my patio & home lighting, you name it. Google homes can be paired to play together or play separately.
