They came out today to install system and I wasn’t total prepared. They added bout 7 bags of salt and installed unit and left it at 70 for chlorinating.
I had the chlorine level up pretty high before install. The chlorine level is now at 7 and salt at 8400. Should I leave the s3 on 70 or lower it or turn to 0?

Thanks in advance for all you’re help

First, how are you testing your water?

How are you testing your water to get 8400. Is that from the cell or did you use the Taylor K-1766 salt drop test.

The S3 recommended salt levels are 2700 to 3400. Salt levels above 6,000 start to be noticeably more corrosive than lower salt levels, and many SWGs (though not by any means all) shutdown when the salt level is too high.

Are you getting a High Salt alm? The system has an adjustable value for the High Salt alarm...what is your set to?

As for the FC level, what is your CYA?

What was the salinity before adding salt?

Most likely, the wrong cell type is selected or the salt is getting sucked into the main drain and causing the unit to read high.

Turn the cell off immediately and brush the pool thoroughly several times.

Leave the cell off for 24 hours and retest the salinity tomorrow with a K-1766.

That reading was from cell s3 salt system on lcd readout.
It now says 3600. The installer said to wait until tomorrow and let him know if it needs more salt?

Hi James,
Don’t know the salinity from the start but the readout from system now says 3600
What test did you use in your post? Is it from pool math which I have a subscription?
