New ABG Intex 16x32 Rectangular Filling - Chemical questions

Our new pool is up and filling from our creek using a sump pump and running through the sand filter and a duda filter. We are currently at about 14" of water, approximately 4500 gal of water. The only thing we added was 12.5% chlorine using Pool Math, aiming for 3 PPM. It got us to 1.8 PPM. Wasn't sure how long we should wait to test after adding. We waited at least an hour.

So, currently:

FC 1.8 ppm
pH 8 or more (it took 2 drops to bring it down to 7.5) in the tester
TA 250 ppm

We plan to continue to add chlorine as it fills. Should we be aiming for 3ppm or more than that at this time.

Is there anything else we can start adding (CYA maybe?) in order to get a head start on balancing? We anticipate it taking a couple more days to fill.

It's important to note that we are running the fill water through the sand filter pump, so we can't filter as we are adding chemicals. We just brushed the chlorine in.

By now your pool may be full, so make sure you have CYA added for a minimum of 30 then keep the FC balanced as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. Bring the pH down to the mid-7s, then let the water mix and settle for a couple days. Watch the levels. If the pH shoots-up too quickly, it's probably due to the elevated TA which can be addressed later with more muriatic acid. Hope that helps.

Thank you! Not full yet. We are about 1/2 way, but just came home with a bigger hose, so hoping that will speed things up. We have CYA going in a sock and are using Pool Math for that and for the chlorine. I guess we bought the wrong thing for the pH, but will probably use it until it's gone and then switch to the muriatic acid. We've been calculating according to an estimate of how much water is in the pool, as opposed to what it will be when full. Hope that makes sense! Thank you for your help. Glad to get somewhat of a head start on balancing.
