Need to Replace My Remote - Options?

My pool has the Jandy Aqualink RS power center and controller. Still working but the PDA no longer works. I would like to replace/upgrade to one that uses a phone app.

I noticed there is an Aqualink 3.0 that I can find online but I don’t know that it will work with the Aqualink RS version I have. Looking for options.

FYI, I am using the Zodiac Salt Cell which I recently replaced so it needs to work with it.

Hoping you guys/gals can help.

iQ30 upgrade kit will get you a new circuit board, the iQ3.0 antenna. Works with an app on your phone. If you have an indoor control it can be used as well, especially if you have an RS-8 which is what the kit will bring you up to.

I don’t have the indoor control. Just the PDA. After I made this post, I did some more reading at it was pointing to your suggestion. Looks like it may be my best option.

Do you program your system with the PDA? Is it your only interface? If so, you don't have Aqualink RS you have Aqualink PDA.

Here are photos of what I have. Currently, that is the only interface I have to control my equipment. Before, I also had the PDA but it no longer turns on.

As mentioned, i would like to upgrade to use the phone or iPad App.

It looks like an older system. You need to look on the board for the version. Without a working PDA you'll need to look directly on the circuit board.

Which circuit board.. the Power Center or the PDA?

On the Power Center, I see
PCB #8124A
Assembly #8125

It was purchased and installed in 2005. Not sure if that helps.

Not sure you have this board. This is my old PDA board. Can you remove the cover from your Aqualink panel and show the board? I am trying to see how many red connectors you have in the upper left of the board. Newer ones have 2.

I think you have version G (1997). Which is very old. I am not sure you can just upgrade with the below daughter board I think you need the entire new main board, bezel and daughter board.

I think what you have is too old to upgrade. You need an entire new system. The main board, PCB board, bezel, keypad and the IQ30a antenna. That will run probably $1500 plus. You may also need a new enclosure. For now you should try to get that PDA used off ebay until you figure out how much you want to spend.

Here are some photos of the main board.

I am fairly certain you cannot upgrade that to WiFi. It says PDA version 1.2 which is the old style board. You'll need a complete new system if you want to use your phone or computer to control the pool. What devices do you have to control?

SWG
WiFi
Heater
Light(s)
WaterFalls
Variable Speed Pumps
etc

You can replace that chip in the picture with Jandy R0466801 and then get the iQ3.0 antenna separately, but the cost is too close to an
iQ30-RS upgrade kit to be worth the tiny savings. You get a new PCB, frame, touchpad for under $1000.00 many places online. The only issue is whether they will send it or not. Jandy has really tightened up their online-sales policy.

This is directly from Jandy's website(iAquaLink 3.0 Support | iAquaLink:

Where can iAquaLink 3.0 be used?
iAquaLink via an IQ30 device can be installed on any RS or PDA automation system with up to date firmware (RS version R or greater), and wherever internet access is available. An iAquaLink account and mobile app are required, and are free to get and free to use. Once set up, iAquaLink apps can be used anywhere in the world, 24/7, as long as they have an internet connection.

So can I upgrade what I have using the iQ30–RS upgrade kit?

It looks like that kit replaces the main board I currently have and the antenna. Is this correct?

Is it compatible with the Aqualink SWG controller board?

Latest software should be compatible. Your system becomes a new(er) RS-8 (relays are still used) with pool/spa capability as well. Will have to completely re-program the system.

OK... so this is what I will be buying.

Can someone confirm this is correct?

This looks correct but I am not sure it includes the PCB board? Just make sure the PCB is included.
