Hello All,
Having some issues with my 2 year old IC-40.

Shortly after opening the pool (last month), started getting some strange errors with the IC-40.
Inspect Cell, Clean Cell, Check Flow (can't remember exactly what the flow error said), etc.

I then realized my pump wasn't pushing the same amount of water as normal and was making some noise.
I didn't feel like trying to fix it at the time so I pulled the trigger and got a new VS + SVRS (see details below).
After the new pump was installed, I thought all the IC-40 issues would go away but they didn't.
The one error that did go away was the "Flow" error - I haven't seen that error since the pump was replaced.

Today I was out troubleshooting and here is how things went:

Turned the system off.
Cleaned the cell again (3/4 Water + 1/4 Muriatic Acid) - know some people like Vinegar .... anyway - no bubbles.
There is nothing stuck inside. The flow switch looks fine.
It is correctly installed and Flow is going the correct direction.
Powered things back up and did a test holding down the "More" button for 5 seconds:
The 20% light went green and the cell light went green.

Started the pump up and waited for the cell to do its start up routine.
Once it finished, everything looked perfect on the cell:
Flow: Green
Cell: Green
Salt Level: Green

Go inside, look at the remote. Diagnostic -> Intellichlor
Chlorinator Info:
Salt: 3800 ppm Status: OK - NO ERRORS (11am)

Then ... 25 minutes later I decide to check the remote again (as I'm expecting things to NOT work)
Diagnostic screen now says: CLEAN CELL.
I had made zero changes to the system. I was inside doing my TFP tests.

Go back outside and now the Cell light is OFF!

Here is my latest reading from my TFP kit:
FCL: 0
TCL: 0
Ph: 7.5
Aly: 45
CH: 250
CYA: 55

I have a few other kits so did some additional tests and they were all about the same.
I have a handheld Hayward salt reader. It said 2220 but it hasn't been calibrated for awhile.

One test I have NOT done yet, but will - is to loosen the end of the cell and test the water for chlorine.

Any advice/suggestions/etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

** I have pics/videos of everything mentioned in this post so if any of it would help, please let me know. I did include a few for reference.

TLDR:
Opened the pool up around 5/20 this year and had some issues with the pump so I had been shocking it to keep the water from turning on me.
Brand new Pentair VS+SVRS Pump installed on 6/12/2024 - pump is awesome.
BUT - having a lot of strange issues with my salt cell.

When starting things back up for the season, before the new pump, I noticed the IC-40 plug seemed a bit sensitive. For example, if I jiggled it around, the power would go on/off. Tightened things up and that doesn't appear to be an issue any longer (just trying to include everything). No noticeable power issues.
While doing this, I looked at the plug for the IC-40 and it seemed like one of the posts had some corrosion on it (not sure if that is actually true or if it just looked like that). I then compared it to my old cell and it actually looked the same way. Again - just trying to share as much as I can.

Boost: I've probably run the boost option 10 times in it's life.

Before I got the new pump, the cell was throwing up flow errors, then check cell, then clean cell - all randomly. They would come and go.
I did clean it (3/4 acid + 1/4 water), there were zero bubbles. Did it again just to make sure. Poured it out, the rocks started to bubble - so it wasn't bad muriatic acid ;-)
Purchase and Usage History
Purchased a brand new IC-40 on 4/10/2022.
First used on 5/15/2022 through 10/20/2022 (5 months)
Then used again from 5/20/2023 - 10/19/2023 (5 months)

Manufactured date (on stick inside): 3/2022

Set the SWCG to 50% generation. The CELL light should be solid green for 150 seconds, then off for 150 seconds.

If the CELL light blinks, and the cell is clean, the cell needs to be replaced.

Also == Add chlorine now! Use liquid chlorine. Raise the FC to 10 ppm.

Thanks @mknauss !
It is at 50% and I’m headed to the store to get liquid chlorine now.

10 months of use. I sure hope I don’t need to replace it …. especially at the astronomical prices lately.

Quick Update:
5 Gallons liquid chlorine (10%) were added on Saturday.
FCL was around 3-4
Now it is at around 2-3.

I do not believe the cell has produced any Chlorine.

As far as I know, the filter is clean - I've done the "Clean" option and pressure is currently at 15%. (Sand Filter)

Current reading: CLEAN CELL

Any advice on Pentair Warranty? or just call with fingers crossed?

Thanks in advance!
