Need pump recc' asap!

old Challenger High Pressure 345201 pump just broke - backplate blew a piece off, no salvaging it.
Is there a go-to pump? basic, vfd or 2-speed, no automation or anything. need it asap. Quality over price. 1.5+hp. 90% of the time I ran the old one at low speed to circulate. Thanks in advance for recommendations!
 
Quality small VS pump would be a Pentair Superflo VS.
With a suction side cleaner, I would suggest the Intelliflo VS. You will need greater suction to make that work.
Availability can be an issue.
Check Polytec Pools.
 
Check out your local pool guys and see it they have any used parts. Should be cheap. I have this pump on a VS motor and love it. Mine is at least 20 years old and should last another 20,
Before i would buy a new pump and motor i would rebuild the pump and slap on a VS motor.
