Need help with Pentair IC60

I recently started getting check cell messages on my Pentair IC60 despite cleaning. The odd thing was that it would be fine and seem to generate chlorine for about 30-60 minutes after start up but the check cell message would consistently come back. I ended up replacing it with another IC60 but am getting another set of problems. When I installed the new cell, I am getting a persistent 0 salt reading on the Easytouch. The lights on the cell were green except the low salt light which was red. Rebooting the system multiple times and fiddling with the plug didn’t help. I ended up putting the old IC60 on and the 0 salt message persisted, alternating with com link error after multiple reboots. Prior to this, the old cell would at least report a salt level of 2900ppm. Am I correct to assume the Easytouch is the problem? I was reading replacing the SCG salt board may help. Any other places to troubleshoot before? Thanks for any help.

Hyue,

With your old cell.... Normally, when the cell light flashes and the cell is clean, then the cell is bad. It will often run for a few minutes to an hour before flashing again.

With your new cell. If the cell itself has a green salt light and the EasyTouch shows zero, then it is a communication timing issue between the cell and the EasyTouch. Replacing the Flow Switch will often fix this problem, but so does replacing the cell, and the main card, and the Surge card (SWCG power board). Sometimes just rebooting the system will make it work.

As a test, turn off the power and reboot. Watch the cell and see if it goes through its salt test routine (Rail Road Crossing lights) Once the salt lights quit flashing, do you get a green cell light or not? Can you adjust the % of output light on the EasyTouch and see output lights on the cell change as they should?

What is your water temp??

Tell me what you find.

Thanks,

Jim R.
