Nature2 filter leaking

Looks like my nature2 filter is leaking from the oring and I'd like to change it. However, it looks like there is no way to unscrew it. I think all of the pvc pieces are glued in place without any type of way to remove them. If I'm correct I was thinking about cutting the long in/out pieces along the back and pulling the entire thing out. Would it be okay to add a threaded pvc union on the in/out lines so I can remove it easier next time?

Cut it out and connect the pipes with a short run of PVC.

You don’t need the mineral sanitizer and it adds minerals to your pool which will eventually lead to metal staining.

The system was put in by the previous owner along with a uv sterilizer. It’s over 10 years old and I don’t see any stains. I thought if they are already there might as well use them. Would it be better to chuck them both and move to a swg? I would make the investment if it would lower my maintenance.
