Nice job. I can definitely see progress. Stay on it and just know that once you get the water sparkling, you will never have to do this again. That is of course as long as you don't let it become a swamp again.

Definitely seeing a difference. To me it looks like it might even be getting ready to switch over to the bluer color!

Task this is a lesson I learned the hard way. Those are the best ones. Trust and believe that I will never let this happen again. Closing it should be a lot of learning again. I want to open to a beautiful pool. It probably won't happen though because our cover is on it's last leg.
Well, even if your cover is on its last leg, you might just need to close the pool a little later (after your water temp drops below 50) and open a little earlier (before your water temp rises above 50). I'm pretty sure that might help you keep it clear when it comes time to open.
How cold does it get in Chesapeake that close to the water? Much snow? Thoughts on just keeping it open 12 months?
We get quite a bit of snow in the winter. Nothing like michigan or anything like that but it's still significant. This winter it got down to 8 degrees. Plus the pollen and trees around here are no joke. Every one of them sheds like crazy.
I just kept mine open the past 2 winters. I have a leaf net to keep the leaves out. I skim here and there through the winter. (and due to my ultimate lameness I just have my pump running all. The. Time. For 2 years + now which is unnecessary and absurd. But such is my lameness)
^in some areas and conditions, Beens, running a pump all the time is about the cheapest -- next to bleach -- thing you can do to keep a sparkly pool It's certainly better than not running it enough...
AWT, regarding your cover...it doesn't have to be pretty to work. At first I thought mine had had the biscuit, but then I found patch material that more or less works so it soldiers on and I continue to open clean, cold, and clear! Yours may have more life than you think, depending on the size of holes.
Quick tip for later though -- if you patch it, patch it when its warm...don't wait til the cold and you have to get it on the pool unless you want to spend an afternoon on your knees with a heat gun

Quick question. I have been seeing some post about putting a bag or a mesh net on your vacuum. What exactly are they talking about? Apparently it helps with getting a bunch of junk out?

I'm pretty sure he liked it and also suggested it to the "foreclosed /pool not open in 3 years" thread.
Sorry I can't get more specific. I'm on the phone and a bit of a zombie today after going to bed at 130, waking up at 345 to drive to Richmond to pick up my sister and drop her off at Newport news airport because her car randomly died late last night and she had to be at the airport for an early flight! Trying to get myself motivated to get out of bed now. lol

Epro05, I just picked one of those up for about the same price from a local place by me. seems like it is a pretty good idea (Fill the pool and hopefully suck some of the junk off of the bottom into the netted bag).
First year with our pool and at this point pulling up the winter cover I think I will be in the same situation as awtrizzle is right now.
Hopefully next weekend will be my first official pool opening post too. Can only imagine what is lurking around the depths of my swamp

Awtrizzle, since we were talking earlier about opening to a clean pool, here is what you have to look forward to when using the TFP method. I opened just the other day, topped it off with the hose and brought my chlorine up to recommended levels and ran the vacuum twice. This is the result:

Well look at that! I do believe I can see the third step! They color seems to be lighter as well.
