My pool looks like a swamp! New owner, 1st time opening, Help!

I sure hope so! Vacuumed the whole pool. Actually had to have my daughter get in, I dropped a pole in there when I was setting up one my umbrellas for the table! Water temp. was 70. I bribed her with a chocolate shake! lol.
She said she didn't feel anything grimy on the bottom, just a little slippery.

Numbers are maintaining.

Got home from the firehouse this morning, and started vacuuming the pool and I can actually see the main drain in the deep end!!! I could see some algae laying on the bottom at the seams of the liner in different places where it had collected. Looks like a green/tan dust. I got it all vacuumed, back washed and the water was literally a really dirty tan color. I vacuumed to filter not waste.

It's definitely making progress. I did however lose a lot of chlorine overnight, where as it had been holding steady all night long. Lost almost 10ppm. I'm still above shock level though, I'm slamming it a little higher than the recommended number, so I'm staying above shock level, just for that reason.

You will have time where the FC loss is more than it might have been before especially now that you can see the bottom better. Keep at it!

My kids are dying to swim... is it ok at this high of chlorine level to swim in for a little bit? It's sunny and high 80's today. Or will that hurt the SLAM process.

You would have to let the FC drop below SLAM level for them to swim, so yes it would hurt the SLAM process.
