Your pool looks amazing! Congrats!
Hope your leak situation is settled quickly.

Are you brushing twice a day and testing?

Ok, that is one of my questions!
Should I be brushing it? I cannot turn on the pump. I am getting pretty nervous with this! Will the dust just sit on the bottom without the pump running??

I have tested, but cannot add chemicals without the pump running either. ☹️

Have you asked the PB what to do? Those sound like bad options.

I agree! I called Pebbletec and they said that brushing would help move the chemicals through the water and should stick with the recommendations from the installer.... but I didn't get "recommendations" :cautious:

good thing y'all are here!

Ok, PB was here with the plumbers. They know where the leak is coming from...and they cannot reach it unless they cut out some of the deck. *sigh* Someone will be here later today to cut out a portion of the deck and check out the fence. (one side of the fence got a lot of damage from excavations vehicles and dirt piles up against it)

The plumbers will return to fix leak after the concrete is cut either later today or tomorrow first thing.

Then have to get scheduled to fix concrete and re-sundek. so much fun....:cautious:(n)

PB said yes to start brushing, (40' is lot to fricken brush by the way ugh, LOL) PB said he will get someone out here to start up chemicals as well and said the guy who was here for start up yesterday should have added the chemicals.

PB said he will be sure that everything is fixed correctly and I'll be happy! 🤞🤞🤞

Just wait until you go to sleep and your arms throb! Mine do!
I'm sure your PB told you - Smooth downward motion and push the 'dust' to the main drain. Of course your pump isn't running but the action will distribute the chemicals around.

I was concerned about our pool, too. The main thing our pool rep is working with was the PH and TA. You should print out PebbleTec's warranty information (levels) and start up information. It helps to have that to refer to. I also asked our guy why there's not chlorine in the pool. Well, he's also following what our Hydrazzo start up recommends. Obviously it's all Greek to me but at least I'm dipping my feet in.

I still think this is the perfect time to finish a pool. We'll have it balanced and up and running by spring. I just wish everyone would stop tracking mud on our deck!

That's a bummer but not the end of the world I guess.
@Sollace As for no chlorine, I was reading the start up for mine and it said no chlorine for x number of days.

Yes, my pool chemical rep (all these different guys!) said the no chlorine at first is due to metals. I just bought some 18" gloves that can be used with chemicals. They'll come in handy when messing with the pool )

How's the leak / repairs / brushing / etc.?
Are you poised for this cold front that's blowing down to Texas?
Morning!

Well, the first day that they were supposed to start fixing everything, the concrete guys were delayed at another project so they said they would be here first thing in the morning. :cautious: They were here first thing, but so was the rain! POURING all fricken day. ☹ So yes, you guessed it...DELAY.

The next morning concrete guys got here first thing, they did their thing (cutting a portion of my new deck out to get to the plumbing).

SO MUCH MUD!!!

The plumbers showed up while the concrete guys were finishing up, then they got to work.

IMG_5044.jpg

They were able to turn on some of the pool to get a little water moving. The leak was in the return pipes, so they turned on the venturi returns. The water was pulled from the drain and out the venturi returns of the skimmers.

PB had one of his guys come and put some chemicals in the pool, (Acid and some chlorine). I have brushed the pool, its a mess form this work going on! AND SOOO COLD!

I found a way to stop ruining my shoes in this relentless mud! LOL 😆 Fancy, I know! 😎

IMG_5057.jpg

They got the plumbing fixed and turned the returns on. Couldn't get the skimmers going last night because the water was still too low, I lost a lot of water during all this, it went down a couple inches everyday, so had to re-fill some everyday. *UGH*
But everything is going good for the freezing temps this week, I covered the exposed pipes. I get all bundled up to brush the pool! LOL 🥶

"Pool School" is Tuesday after the freezing.

PB has not let me know when they are coming to fix the concrete yet, I am sure it will be a process! 🤦‍♀️

Oh, and I turned on the lights for a second to check them out! 🤩

Glad the pipes are fixed. Hopefully not too long until the deck is good as new. Glad you got to at least enjoy the beauty of the lights.

I'm in awe that they are able to tell "where the leak is coming from," ~ How do they do that??!? Thank goodness the cut out section is relatively small and should patch up without a trace.
Kudos for handling this setback with calm and humor! And for braving the cold!!! Yikes.
The lights in the pool at night look beautiful! A few months from now, all the mud and chaos will be a vague memory! Your pool and yard is going to be gorgeous. 😍

They dug under the deck some and saw where the water was gushing from. They would pump the water out away from the leak, then get down and look where they were digging and then turn the pump on to see where it was. They narrowed down the area and marked where the concrete guys needed to cut.

They were a mess when it was over! So muddy. LOL

Ah! Thanks for explaining the simple solution. Not such a mystery after all :geek:

Whew. It never gets old reading of someone's pool and seeing others have problems, too! I hope you're over the worst of it. I agree with pool brushing during this winter 'storm.' We've had tree pollen/pods fall into our yard and nice piles lining up in the pool. More fun.

Those shoe coverings are so stylish! !!! Next thing you know you'll be trending, one foot at a time!

Actually I'm so tired of everyone tracking dirt and mud into the house. I washed two pairs of hubbies shoes in the dishwasher and by the next day they're mud encrusted. Lesson learned. He can clean his own shoes. . . . And . . . He has a pair of rubber boots!
