I'll start by saying I'm a new pool owner and I've quickly learnt that it's not easy! I'm in Australia, I have a 30,000L fibreglass salt pool with a sand filter. I've had a mustard algae problem for months now and I've been following advice from pool shop...these guys are a bit old school, don't test with a computer and seemed like they're not trying to rip me off etc....they gave me an Algaecide and I followed instructions....having read through this site I can see why this method hasn't really worked! I've seen improvements but it's fat from gone completely. I think I understand the SLAM method, and the three things required to confirm the algae is gone, I must admit the forum and website has been a great help to me, it seems to make sense to me now and I'm really excited after months of frustration and wanting to fill my pool with concrete and walk away. Ive attached a photo to confirm mustard algae (photo is when it was at its worst, I've since got it sparkling for a week but it's back but nowhere near as bad), it's easy to brush and it puffs up into a brown cloud. It's Thursday night and I really want to get started this weekend...I've found a link on here to the home testing kit (I don't have any at the moment) it seems I need to buy online...anyone in Australia on here know any retail outlets that sell them so I can get it quickly? Is there a way I can do it without a home test kit? I hope I've been clear....I'm excited to get started and eradicate this horrible stuff once and for all.
