Multiportvalve question

Guys,

Do sand filter multiport valve and D.E. filter multiport valve have the same feautres?

I mean the same 6 options on the sand filter that are
filter,backwash,rinse,recirculate,waste and closed

And does D.E multiport valve have all these options?

Nope.

Some MPV do not have RINSE or CLOSED.

Also be aware that while they may appear identical, some filters use a specific MPV for DE versus sand. @JamesW reminds us of that on some posts. I keep forgetting.

+1…..Hayward MPV for sand and DE look identical, however the flow is reversed between the two (i.e. in the Sand variant the filter inlet is the top port and outlet is the bottom port. In the DE variant, the filter inlet is the bottom port and outlet is the top port.). I believe some Pentair MPV may be interchangeable, but would confirm 100% before I’d try an interchange.
