Moving.. Going to do a DIY Build.

Semi visible as in the picture a few posts up.

A dark color large format tile might just be the ticket. I was actually thinking that. I don't want to bury $20/sf tile in a hole not to be seen.

Tell me more about how you will use these ice chest wells.

How do you keep pool water out of them?
Our pool is a cocktail pool. No jumping or making waves allowed. Plus at just over 4 feet deep with benches around the perimeter one can get seriously injured if they do jump in. The wells are above the waterline too.

For sure you need to tile those bad boys. I say get a 6x6 tile that matches your plaster color so they don't stand out too much OR go complete contrast so they DO stand out. I would also invest in a turkey baster to have close to such out any water that does end up in them from rain or splashing as there WILL be some water in them for one reason or another.

I’ll do dark as plaster is classic white.

A turkey baster will be perfect!

Is the bottom of ice chest well above or below the pool's waterline? How far is the top of the well from the waterline? I don't see this well in the other pics of your pool. Was it added later?

Noble objective but hard to police during party time.

I hear it never rains in Southern California but I think you will get water in those wells. Did you put a drain in the bottom of the well?

How many wells do you have in the pool?

This is the first time I have seen ice chest wells in a pool. Did you come up with the idea or see it in action in other pools?

If someone jumps in they’re likely to get hurt with so many benches and other appurtenances.

There’s no drains but I am going to get stainless steel lids fabricated.

My wife and I came up with the idea while at our favorite all inclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas because here nobody is going to bring us drinks in the pool so we will just have the drinks with us and not have to get out for the next round

IMO I would see if you could get a gravity drain in them tied into your deck drains. Even if it never rains and you never let anyone make waves, Ice melts. Seems like a really cool idea though.

This article recommends an iron sequestrant but doesn't mention what specifically to use. In CA there are specific regulations on Iron and Manganese in potable water so it should be pretty low already but what to use?

Some concrete got in the skimmer and the pipes are stuck. Suggestions for removal requested. I'm thinking of gently chipping away the concrete and using muriatic acid to get the cement off the threads.847D516F-A152-428D-8A98-BC0F240EB5A2.jpeg

Fill Water:

Build Type: Plaster
Volume: 11000 gallons
------------------------------------------
Latest Test Result Summary:
FC: 0.0 (3 minutes ago)
pH: 8.2 (3 minutes ago)
TA: 90 (3 minutes ago)
CH: 140 (3 minutes ago)
CYA: 0 (3 minutes ago)
TEMPERATURE: 65° (3 minutes ago)
CSI: 0.21 (3 minutes ago)

Going to add acid and calcium. Will this drive CSI negative?
Due to the low temperature both air and water I'm not adding chlorine yet.

What startup guide are you following?

Add CH.

Just keep pH around 7.8 until you get your CH up.

What is your target for CH?

I'm using the "Traditional Start-up" Method.

I'm targeting 400ppm for CH to start. It'll go up all by itself over time.

I'm adding calcium chloride and muriatic acid to bring the CH up and the pH / TA down.
