More stabilizer?

thanks again for the information and instilling some confidence. My main goal here is to have a safe pool to enjoy with my little baby for many years. Just trying to make sure we are ready to go for the season
You waltzed in recently and have been drinking from a fire hydrant since. Every last snippet of info is pretty simple, but it's information overload and it'll take a minute for it all to click. Or to see how this puzzle piece fits the big picture.

We got you in the meantime.

Any addition of FC will skew the test. Could we probably prove you only produced 0.2 (?) at best ? Yes. But what if that was the 0.2 that pushed you back into pass territory when you were a borderline fail ?

You asked the question so it's a GREAT question. Sitting on it would be stupid. (y)

Too high is above slam. And even then it's 'temporarily elevated'. 5 or 6 FC is borderline low IMO for a 50/60 CYA, especially when dialing the system in.

You can drive yourself nuts micromanaging it as no two days are the same. Most of us target the high UV loss day and accept we will make more than we need on the cloudy days. I turn mine down when it hits a teen. I've lost count how many times i found a high teen on day 6.

It probably resumed it's usual schedule at midnight for the next day.

Its just a plug. Mine has a twist nut on it, but still just a plug.
Okay, good news. I completed the OCLT after realizing I made a dumb error in trying to turn off my SWG. Apparently you have to hit “select” after changing the percentage. At least it was just a dumb user error and now I know how to control it properly.

Last night my FC was 8ppm and this morning it’s 7ppm. So I guess that’s means I passed!
My CYA is like 45ish (so I guess I round to 50? Still having trouble perfecting the reading of the black dot test in the Taylor kit). So I have a proper ratio. Safe for the baby? Right now she is 9months and still tries to drink pool water (and I try my best not to let her). I guess I’m still a little nervous about the “higher” levels of chlorine, even though I understand most of it binds to CYA.

Yup.

Yup. At that point, only pour to the 10s and it's much easier to be certain it's not a 40 and not a 60.

Swimming is safe between minimum and slam. I've had more parties in the high teens or twenties than I remember. I've had more compliments about my lack of chlorine than I remember too. But I didn't tell them. Hehe.

We all snuck a mouthful here and there too. You're multitasking and trying not to drop the baby and whatnot and she is laser focused on taking a drink. You can't win 100% of the time. :ROFLMAO:

I'd prefer she drank sanitary pool water than unsanitary pool water if those are my only 2 choices.

Haha, perfect. Thanks again for all of this!
