I have a Minimax 400 pool heater and I can't get the power light on the board to light up. I'm getting 26 V out of the transformer to the board (orange and white wires), I assumed it was the board, order a new one, and am getting the same thing on the new board. No power light. When I tested the back of the orange and white leads after plugging into the board, the voltage is dropping to 15 V from 26 V. I don't think it's normal to have that much of a voltage drop when plugging in the load, so wanted to check if anyone has any thoughts on if the transformer might be bad. A new one on Amazon is $50, but don't want to waste more money.

Hope everyone is staying safe during this craziness.

Brad

If this is your heater then it seems to agree that you have a transformer problem.

I. Power

This light indicates 24VAC power is being supplied to the control circuit. It should remain on at all times. If this fails to light up, so will the remaining indicators. This can mean 2 things:
  1. External power to the heater is disconnected. Check service panel circuit breaker, or fuse.
  2. Transformer has failed.

Thanks Allen. That's similar to what I read. I'm just surprised I'm getting 26V out of the transformer and that it's not completely dead. I order a new transformer that will be here next week and will update the post with the results.
