We have no traditional pool stores in our area, believe it or not, where we can get water tested. I would like to test my pool and tap water for metals, particularly iron and copper. I see some DIY kits for sale, at Home Depot for instance, but have found no threads in this forum discussing them. Is there a reasonably priced test kit that someone has used and can recommend?

From Metals - Further Reading

Taylor has the K-1716 - Iron Test Kit that sells for around $100.

Taylor Technologies also has the K-1264 Commercial (uses Midget comparators), Copper, 0.2-3.0 ppm/Iron, 0-2.0 ppm that sells for around $150

OOF. At those prices, it would be cheaper to take a day trip to find a pool store. Or ship a water sample to an accomplice who lives nearer a store - other chemicals might change levels during shipping, but I don't believe metals would go anywhere.
