I'm constantly learning about my pool setup and have a question regarding a mechanical 24 hr on/off timer.

My pool has one with the equipment that controls power to the SWG and VS Pump. I had it setup so the mechanical switch was disengaged (removed the trippers) and the VS Pump just ran its schedule. BUT this leave the SWG on and indicating NO FLOW, which I have come to learn is bad practice.

So now I want to reactivate the mechanical timer, but how will this affect my VS pump? When the timer turns ON will the pump turn back on and resume the schedule (Assuming I set ON time before schedule start time)? Should I rewire the mechanical switch so only the SWG is controlled by the switch and power to the VS pump just passes through?

Hey Mike,
Should I rewire the mechanical switch so only the SWG is controlled by the switch and power to the VS pump just passes through?
Correct. Wire the SWG to the timed-load terminals of your timer. Let us know if you need some help with this.

I took a picture of the terminals set up to confirm. The two circled are the red and black for the pump. I'm thinking that I move them as shown in the picture.

Do you have the wiring diagram or model # for the timer? Do you have a multimeter? You're probably right, but you should confirm.
