I've had some either iron/brown algea trails. Less each day. Filter brownish. Water is perfectly clear. Brushing/vacuuming daily. Changing filter every other day. Pump running 24/7.
I use 10% chlorine bleach. Newbie using only TFP method

FC 10
CC 2
TC 12
pH 8.2
CYA 60

Any info on where to go from here

Agreed. Any time the CC get to be more than 1 drop to clear, points to something going on in the water.

Have you added any "odd" chemicals to your pool recently?

Lower that pH and then follow the SLAM Process process.

Newbie only using TFP. Liquid chlorine. So with a CYA of 60, I need to FC at 24 which for my pool size/current FC would be 2 gallons and a cup. And 84oz borax to get pH down

Does that sound correct? still learning pool math. thanks

With a CC of 2 it is implying you need to SLAM.

Good luck.

thanks mknauss

What strength bleach? To go from FC 10 to 24, using 10%, you need 269 oz. Or 2 gallons and 2 cups.

Be sure to lower your pH to 7.2 first and confirm with a pH test after 30 minutes of circulation.

Plan to test and dose with liquid chlorine every few hours at the start.

Take care.

ok so went to get muriatic acid this morning. My local hardware store does pool test so being curious I took a sample.

Their test read

FC 2.1
TC 0.9
CC -1.3
pH 7.7
CYA 25

wow! my reading this morningIMAG2968-2.jpg

FC 10
TC 10
CC 0
pH 7.8-8 hard to read the colors for me
CYA 55

should I do anything to pool?

Are you SLAM'ing? You said yesterday you were. If so - follow [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. Lower your pH first.

You can save your reagents and not test CC. Only do that when you do your OCLT.

Take care.

Yes. you can lose chlorine that fast. That is why it is best to test and dose with chlorine every 2-3 hours at the start of the SLAM. Having longer periods lets the algae grow when you are below shock level.
