I really want to purchase a robotic pool cleaner. Both of the above companies will not accept returns of used cleaners. Several years ago, I demoed a Dolphin 300I. I would not clean the short side of my L shaped pool. I did call Maytronics at that time but never resolved the issue due to the short demo period.

Once bitten, if I buy a robotic cleaner, I would like to know which of the above companies have the best customer service? I am interested in the new Polaris Alpha iQ+. I would think that the mapping feature might work better in my pool. So what are your recommendations?

I just had a 15 year old Maytronics Dolphin die. It worked great so I never had to call customer service. It's obviously not worth paying to fix it so I needed a new robot. I spoke to Maytronics (was on hold quite a while) yesterday about their different models, and for almost every question I asked, I was told to download the manual for that model. So the information was pretty slim.

Another thing about Maytronics in my area, there are very few authorized dealers for warranty work. They also told me not every dealer has to do warranty work and that each dealer makes their own policies on that.

Today I called Polaris. They answered the phone and the person was really nice and helpful. She knew the products well and was able to answer my questions.

Leslie's which is a couple miles from me is an authorized warranty center for Polaris and she said they are required to do the warranty work, no matter where you bought the unit from, they will honor the warranty (hope that's true, would be convenient).

Whichever one I buy, I don't want to have to ship it anywhere to get service so maybe check your area for authorized warranty service centers and if they honor the warranty no matter where you buy the cleaner.

Good luck.

Location of service centers is a very good question. The closest Maytronics service center is about 30 mi or 45 minutes away. The closest Polaris service center is about 10 minutes away. Both are dealers with factory certification. Any way thanks for the input.

Years ago I bought a Polaris 280 from Amazon. When installing it, I accidentally cut the hose improperly making it too short.

I contacted Polaris about purchasing a new hose, and they sent me a new one for free, even though the issue was my fault!
