My Maytronics experience has been an exception. The motor on my E30 stopped working 6 months after the 2 yr warranty. I took great care of it (see below) and followed the instructions and its first year was fine. This year, it fails its BIT every time and I have to follow their motor and impeller troubleshooting steps on their site (including taking out the motor) just to get it to pass its BIT when I want to use it. That allows it to run for about 30 minutes (which was better than nothing ). Now it won't pass its BIT at all.
I called and was told it could be the motor or the tracks (which I also checked per their site instructions). Not very helpful since the motor assy and tracks are pretty much the whole thing. Then I was told my warranty was expired and nothing further from the rep. So, I read on here you can buy a new motor, but it's $500+. I feel kinda stupid since I even paid $100 for their cart to protect the tracks for this thing and now it's going in the trash. I reviewed several articles on it here and they were overwhelmingly positive, which is great for those involved. My experience was not and wanted to share in case it also helps others. Thanks everyone and have a great Labor Day weekend.
(I always checked the chemical levels before placing it in the pool per their manual. I took it out when it wasn't in use and cleaned the filter basket. I stored it in a temp controlled garage.)
