I recently had a concrete extension added to my pool deck. The subs came back to do the mastik on the new section and replace the old mastik around the pool. It was the worst job ever! They did not cover my pool and left quite a mess. They also did not put any mastik between my stone features which are a part of the coping and the new addition. And nothing in the joint between the existing and new deck (see pics). My question is: should I clean out this space between the stones and new deck and put mastik in? And should I extend the mastik out between the old and new deck?

There’s no standards on work so it’s just up to you. The mastic is supposed to cover the top of an expansion joint so if the new deck buts right up to the coping or the stonework (without a gap) it may not do anything except seal concrete cracks when they occur.
