I am going on week three of pool start up for new pebble finish. Wetedge wants the oh around 7.2-7.6 I keep it around 7.5-7.6, my TA has dropped due to the constant acid doses and is around 100 now versus 130-160 previously. If I bring it to 7.5 my lsi is slightly negative -.03-.05, What’s the best way to manage this? At 7.6 it’s .06

When should I clean my filter, I didn’t have plaster dust due to acid wash for plaster?

Whose startup advice do you want to follow? As you see you cannot follow Wet Edges direction for pH and LSI and satisfy them both.

Our plaster expert recommends positive CSI/LSI during the start-up. CSU/LSI towrd +0.5 is ok. I would keep ph at 7.6-7.8.

The normal CSI guidelines are not applicable to new plaster finishes under 30 days old. It is actually necessary, to achieve a smooth and dense surface, to have about a +0.5 CSI during the first 30 days. This is because the plaster (cement paste) surface contains about 20% calcium hydroxide, which is somewhat soluble in balanced and slightly positive CSI water and can be dissolved away. The plaster surface needs to be "carbonated" before the CSI should be lowered to the acceptable and balanced range. And that generally is achieved during the first month under balanced water.

When your filter pressure rises 25% from clean filter pressure.

Wetedge uses the LSI and recommends 0-0.30 with ph 7.2-7.6. I am adding on avg 13-20 oz a day of acid. I know we previously discussed this before, but at that time I was suggesting to get my ph way lower. I’ll let it hover around the suggested mark as you said.

The only positive aspect is it does quickly rise because I was going from 7.5 to 7.8 each day.

Ph is the only one I check daily, I finally checked my TA and realized it went down to 100.

I got my chlorine in check that I know what to add each day without checking.

At 1000-1500 rpm the gauge is 0 on the filter, so I’m good for a while?

What does your PSI read at 2400 rpm?

What type of filter do you have?

Interesting I haven’t checked it at 2400 in a while, but I use to have it around that and I thought the psi was higher

Clean and clear 420

Make note of your clean PSI pressures at various RPMS.

I use 1700, 2400, 2700, 3400. I write it with a Sharpie on the side of my filter.

Then you can do a quick check of PSI at higher RPM and see if it has risen.

I’ll do it when I clean it, but what do you suggest for now? I thought the starting pressure was at the start point how we had it, but I could be mistaken. I forgot what rpm that was and having that rpm being returned to the pool versus the sheer descent would that cause a difference in psi ?

Yes, sheer descent on or off would change PSI.

Establish one set of conditions that if your PSI check.

Clean the filter when it is convenient to establish your clean PSI baseline.

I just checked my chemicals again, my TA dropped 30 from last weekend. I didn’t add as much acid and it kept ph 7.6-7.8, right now my ph is 7.8, but if it dropped to 7.6 I would be negative. I did bring it to 7.6-7.7 a few times because I thought my ta was higher. Here it is at 7.8 and if I dropped it to 7.6 this is what it shows, but the water temp is low right now.

Today is day 28, I’ll just keep it where it is now without lowering but what could I of done differently? Should I increase my TA and coming off the 30 days, what should be my next steps to prepare for salt?

I’m thinking should I put the swg in now or wait until next year since it will be getting cooler, thoughts?
