Lowering Total Alk.

I am trying to lower my Total Alk using muriatic acid. My current numbers are:

I have a 20,000 gallon Salt Water Pool

Total Alk 170
PH 7.5
CH 350
CYA 100

I have added about 2 gallons of Muriatic acid over that last week and the Total Alk has only dropped from 190 to 170.

Hi, Mark,

You have to lower Alk thru aeration. Look in "The Stickies" for more info.
