Low Calcium Hardness level - to do or not to do

Hello,
I did a complete drain of the pool due to the level of dissolved solids and have been balancing the fresh water for the past two weeks.

I was not expecting low CH levels in Arizona and am wondering if I let the level raise naturally or raise the CH with calcium chloride?

FC: 5
CC: 5
PH: 7.5
TA: 108
CH: 92
CYA: 56

Thanks,
Robert

The Lamotte ColorQ does not do a good job testing for CH as TFP guidelines want.

Read LaMotte ColorQ Limitations here.

You should get a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C that can do a proper testing of CH and also test for FC above 10 if you intend to follow TFPC methods.

Thanks Allen! Looks like TF-100 is the most popular with the users, I will search for the best price! What's your position on low CH, let it raise on it own or intervene?

Test Kits to buy the TF-100.

I think you have high evaporation and have to add fill water often. If so you can start your CH low and your CH can be up to the TFP minimum of 250 soon.

Lets see what other folks in your area say like @mknauss

Assuming you are in the Phoenix area (could you update your location?) you most likely have Colorado River water as your fill water. So unless you used RO on your pool, the CH should start out at 250 ppm CH plus.

Once you get a test kit that can measure CH properly, test your pool water and fill water.

Hi, I am in Mesa. I ordered a TF-100 and will see what I get when it arrived. In the meantime, I brought in a sample to the pool store and they got 100 and said it will rise on its own as it warms up.
