Pool chemistry is measuring great right now and we are heating it up for one last swim before the next couple days of rain here in Texas. Last few times it rained it was pretty dirty and of course made the pool pretty acidic. Is it better to let nature do what it does and treat afterwards, or put chemicals in to prevent it getting very acidic? We are planning on increasing chlorine after we swim tonight.

Just keep it mixed and you'll be fine. If 0 FC rainwater has 12 + hours to sit there before the pump comes on again, it may cause problems when it finally mixes. You don't have to run through the storm, but give it 15 mins every couple of hours at your convenience.

So long as it's mixed, rain can only affect you by an equal %. 1 inch of rain in a 50 inch average depth pool is 2% for example and untestable across the board.

The raindrops aerating will temporarily raise the PH, but the rain water PH is a 5 and it will more or less cancel itself out as soon as it stops raining.

Thanks, this makes perfect sense. We have a variable speed pump so it’s easy to leave on for longer at low rpm, we’ll try that 😊
