So this morning I turned the pump on and everything seemed fine. But as I was walking back to the house I could hear water noises. I looked in the skimmer basket and it is empty and sucking water. The water level on the pool was fine, the pressure on the sand filter was fine.... I shut the pump off because I had to leave for work. Any thoughts of what to do when I get home?

Maybe your weir door got stuck and blocked the flow of water. How many skimmers do you have? Is there a main drain also? Make sure all the valves are open.
I have 2 skimmers and a main drain. I didn't touch anything but the filter button on the control board. It had been running for several days trying to clear an algae problem. I noticed it lost like 4 inches of water the other day but I just turned the hose on for a couple hours with the plan of addressing that issue after I got the water chemistry somewhat under control. Today when I woke up it didn't look like it had lost any water....but then I turned the pump on. I am about ready to rent a backhoe and fill it in. LOL
