Looking for a pool light replacement recommendation

Our pool light (Hayward LPCUS11100 Universal ColorLogic LED Pool Light, 12-Volt -- in ground) is inoperable, and we are seeking recommendations for a different model. We really liked the functionality and various modes we could select; however, it's very expensive ($1,400) to replace and has terrible reviews. Assuming we replace it with a different model, is it likely the housing assembly will need to be replaced?

Anyone have any strong likes or dislikes to the Pentair IntelliBrite 5G LED COLOR Pool Light model?

First, check the depth of the niche the light is in. Your light mounts differently than most others. If it is a Hayward "shallow" niche your options are limited. The Pentair light is thinner than a standard pool light, but you need to get the measurements before purchasing. Also, I don't believe there is the screw hole in the niche for the screw that holds a Pentair in. It is possible that a Pentair niche was used, they are the most commonly used and virtually all full-sized lights will fit them so check first. See the picture, Hayward niche, its about 2" deep:

Intellibrite 5G LED Color do not have better reliability then your Hayward light.

Pentair has their next generation lights that are claimed to have better reliability - Architectural Series IntelliBrites. Only time will tell.

I'll have to uncover the pool (tomorrow) to look into the details of the niche. Most likely it's the Hayward model since virtually everything about our pool is Hayward. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for the links. Architectural Series IntelliBrites are a bit less costly than Hayward. If we go with that line, maybe we'll use the savings to get a replacement plan as a bit of insurance.

Hoping for better results and not wanting to jump through other hoops replacing the housing unit, I bit the bullet and ordered the same unit, using Pool Parts Unlimited...which I've reviewed and seem to think they're reputable (and reasonably priced) -- a lot less expensive than Amazon.
