looking at putting in new pentair system looking for advice

Oops, I just saw the photo of the port on your board and it's set up just like mine (except i only have 1 port). On the +/- screws you have two wires... you can actually put on as many wires as you can fit under the screws. If you do a continuity check on the pins you'll see that the 2nd connector is just a convenience.

Got it all hooked up. Turns out that the 2 wire connection on the com port is not the heater but the guy who installed the intelliflo wired that up but left the other end disconnected from the pump. I think that is what he meant when he said he ran the cable but was not going to configure it. (last august the Pump blew out the day I was going on vacation for a week !)

I tried hooking up the wireless link at the same time as the existing mobile touch but it did not seem to work. By disconnecting the wireless transceiver for the mobile touch (the box connected to the intellitouch controller) then it started to work. Don't know if there is a way to make this work or not.

The intellichlor power box has the board there but the serial port is not wired to the intellitouch. I just need to wire that up sometime after we start the pool. I"m going to wait to get the pool running before I do anything else. Just good to know the intellitouch is running and I have the screenlogic talking to it.

thx again for all the help

Mel,

Did you connect the pump to the com port? Is the pump being controlled by ScreenLogic?

I run my ScreenLogic from my PC about 90% of the time... You should have a page that looks something like the following:

dbtgallery.php

You can see which circuit is running and adjust the pump speed to whatever you want.. It also shows the watts being used...

Sounds like things are coming right along. :goodjob:

You should be able to use both your old remote system and ScreenLogic at the same time.. Your remote system should have its own Transceivers and ScreenLogic has its own Transceivers.. Keep in mind that the remotes can go bad and lock up the com bus..

Thanks again for the feedback,

Jim R.

Here is a pic of the set up page.. You have to tell the system that you are using an VS IntelliFlo pump...

Thanks
I am going to wait till the pool is open tomorrow before I connect to the pump. I don’t want power to it until pool is open.

I can hook up the remote by itself and it’s fine. But the 2 together seems to conflict at this time.

mel,

I did see this Notice in the manual that ogdento referenced above...

MobileTouch Wireless Controller (Previous Model)
The previous model of the MobileTouch wireless controller and
Transceiver antenna cannot be used with the latest model of the
MobileTouch wireless controller and Transceiver antenna. Both models
cannot coexist in the same IntelliTouch system.

I take this to also mean that the older remote system will not work with the newer SceenLogic system, even though it did not directly say it..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Nice catch Jim, I did not notice that...

Melnic - I think you said you have the mobile touch 2? From the boards I've seen, the mobile touch 1 uses a 916MHz radio module (Link rxm-916) and the mobile touch 2 uses a 900MHz module (Laird AC4790-1X1)... I can understand how those could interfere with each other and not work together.

I checked out the Screen Logic 1 and 2 and I think they both use a 2.4GHz radio module (Microchip MRF24J40). I wouldn't think it would interfere with a 900 or 916MHz radio?... so my apologies to Melnic, but now I'm confused why they're not working together.

Thanks,
Tom

Ahhh right Jim, that would make more sense... I think I went a little nuts looking at rf modules

I hope I didn't distract you too badly Melnic!!

So, on the issue of the Screenlogic Wireless and the Mobile Touch wireless co-existing, I found the answer.
In the I-Link (RS485 to RS232) device manual, I found a blurb about how you have to start up w/o the Mobile touch hooked up just once, get it working, then you can plug in the Mobile touch again.
So, I was trying them both together or going from Mobile touch only to Both. Since I already had JUST the Screenlogic plugged in since friday, all I had to do was shut it down and then plug the mobile touch back in. Now both work.

Here is the manual I am referring to (Page 27):

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwiuycCukanaAhWEq1kKHcX-AOkQFggpMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpentairpool.com%2F~%2Fmedia%2Fwebsites%2Fpool%2Fdownloads%2Fautomation%2Fmanuals%2Fintellitouch_i-link_protocol_interface_adapter_users_guide_english.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1CcnbSLRFM1snkb-bn6sSl

So, I was taking the hand written note (1.100) for what FW version I have and I noticed in the screen logic config, it showed this:
Controller Model Intellitouch i9+3
Controller Firmware 1.160
Protocol Adapter Version Pool:5.2 Build 736.0 Rel
Protocol Adapter Name xx-xx-xx (I masked this out for this post so I don't give out my adapter address)
Configurator version 5.2 Build 736.0 Rel

So, is this accurate? I have 1.160 Firmware?
