Liquid chlorine turned my pool salty

I know that liquid chlorine has salt in it and for the past two years I have not used anything but chlorine.

I havent been in the pool much this summer but when I went in last night, I realized the water is salty, instead of hard water taste.

No idea if this is good or bad for a plaster pool and was wondering if I need to empty my pool come winter?

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

There are many of us with saltwater pools and we would not have it any other way.. Of course we actually add salt on purpose...

I don't see a need to do anything..

Test your CH with your test kit. I suspect it is fairly high.

Otherwise, no, the salt will not harm anything.

Thanks for the input. I am adding Chlorine everyday and I am maintaining it between 2 and 5, each day.

I guess I have nothing to worry then...

Not exactly true.. You can't tell if that is enough unless you know what your CYA level is... See this chart.. FC/CYA Levels

In "almost" all cases 2 to too low... and 5 is not high enough..

Maybe consider switching to SWG if your salinity is high enough.

I have a plaster pool and I kept my CYA between 30 and 35 for the past 1 year. In fact it went low to 20 before the start of summer and I had added TABS to increase it to 40, which now went down to around 35.

2 is at the lower end of the day, which is early morning when I add the liquid chlorine. After adding chlorine it goes up to ~5 or so. I add more CH when the temps are going over 110, a little lower when the temps are around 105.

I havent checked the Salinity, but SWG is out of question (budgetary constraints). I was worried about salt in the water, but then JIMRABHE pointed how they add salt to SWG pools. So l am not too worried about the salt in water now.
