Lighted sunshelf?

We are almost at dig and still unsure about whether we should light the sunshelf. Pool is a 16X38 rectangle that includes the 6x16 shelf. We are putting 2 color led lights in the pool. The shelf will have two bubblers. I’m not really crazy about the lighted bubbler look and was even more hesitant after costing them out. The shelf is only 6” deep, and we’re being told that’s not deep enough for any other kind of light. Thought/suggestions/regrets? Curious if anyone out there passed on the lights in their shelf and is happy with that decision...thanks!

see my pic below! Shelf is fine and no light on it.

We added 2 Globrites on our 14" deep sunshelf that I absolutely love. I especially like how they "mix" sometimes with the 3 Intellibrites to be different colors than the rest of the pool via the "Romance" scene in the Pentair lighting controller. Not sure if the 6" depth would be a problem or not, but here are some pics of ours.

That’s one of my regrets - I didn’t get any lights on the sun shelf and it is dark at night.

Sun shelf is in middle on right. I would also reconsider the 6” depth. We went 12” and it’s perfect to be on a lounge chair with water just covering it.

Thank you, everyone. We will talk about possibly going a little deeper. We were told that we need a minimum of 12” for a light, though. I’ve seen the ones that reqire only 4” but also how ppl said in one of the other threads that installation was tricky. They had to notch into their tile to make room for the light...in other words the 4” spec was not really realistic. All of your pools are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing pics.

Don't stress too much... You can always add later :hammer:

No pebble...couldn't afford it after everything else, plus with my sensitive feet, I wanted a smoother finish. We went with a quartzite plaster: Diamond Brite in Bahama Breeze color. Took us FOREVER to decide on that color, but we love it! It can get a little dark when the sun isn't out, but when it is out it's a very rich blue. I would have put it in my sig, but too much else to fit in the 2 line limit. :)

Definitely consider going deeper than six inches on your sun shelf. It’s just not enough. Mine is second step depth. Perfect for my chair, my bottom sits in the water.

Our pool build is in progress - so no pictures of the light yet - but we have a 6” deep shelf, 12’x8’, and our builder put a light in it without cutting into any waterline tile. All of our lights are small/nicheless LED.

I wish I had put a stone surface on my shelf. I don't put my chairs on it because I am too afraid of damaging the plaster. Next year I will get rubber feet for all of them but the stone would have been awesome!
