Hello, we have a 8k-10k gallon 4’ deep salt water cement pool. One of the two lights kept going out. The repair company said the fixture wires are stuck in cement. They said the only way to replace it is drain the pool at least halfway to work on it. They want to drain it one night then work on it the next day. My questions are: 1) Is it reasonable they can’t replace it under water, 2) How high of a risk is draining it as needed for let’s say 24 hours, & 3) Any suggestions or advise? Thanks so much!

Martin,

You can normally replace the light bulb without draining the pool, because the cable should be long enough to come up to the deck..

But if they are going to replace the cable, and it does not slide right out, then you need to drain the pool.. You can't be floating in water and try to pull on anything.. Try it, it is like being in space... And why NASA uses a pool to simulate working in space.

Thanks,

Jim R.
