Light fixture replacement options

Hi,

I'm a new owner of a not-so-new pool. It's a 55x15' lap pool, built in the 1990's. It has 2 small lights, one of which currently doesn't work. I pulled the bulb and the lamp fixture itself is damaged, so I'm trying to understand replacement options.

The light is a small Purex 10510 light. Near as I can tell, this is the same thing as a Starite/Pentair "Sunlight" line. I can find direct replacements for it, but wanted to understand what options I had to change to something more efficient. The light itself is so small and uses an off Edison base that finding a screw-in LED replacement bulb is not possible.

Beyond draining the pool and rebuilding, is there any way to retrofit the niche? Ex - convert it to something I could use a surface mount or nicheless light with? Or should I just stick with replacing with the same, or with one of the modern 'spa' lights that fits the smaller niche?

Thanks!

How large is the light?

To to replace it, it is likely you can wire in a new one. Do you know where the other end of the wire goes? That underwater conduit goes to some place well above the pool water line and connects to a switch. If you find that, you can attach a new light to the old wire and pull the new wire through. Wire up the new light to the switch, and you are all set. I did this recently, and it took 15 min. The new LEDs are about 10x more efficient.

Thanks for the feedback.
The current light is small. The lens is about 3.5" in diameter and the ring about 8". It mounts into a small wet niche.

The run to the junction box is pretty straight forward and I'm up for replacing it myself. It just seems that the current niche I have is more common for spas than pools, and that seems to limit my options on replacement.

Thanks again!
