I am looking at alternatives to my very old Pac Fab Sunray light. Most parts for it are obsolete (I hope I finally ordered the correct, or closest fit, gasket). I always thought that I would wait for a new light until we need to replace the liner, since I thought that the water needs to be lowered, and I have read that lowering water in a lined pool isn't a good idea - (true/false?).

Anyway, through my search for parts I came across this video from Inyo Pools. This looks too easy to be believed.....what about the wire seal on the back of the niche? They didn't mention this in the video, and I would assume water would fill the conduit and bubble out of the junction box.

Is it really this easy???

I did not watch the video, but replacing a fixture is not necessarily that hard (depends if the conduit is corroded or collapsed and how long it is).

I am not sure how the niche is sealed in a vinyl pool ... meaning is it the niche that holds the water in or the fixture. I imagine it is the niche. There will always be water in the niche and often in the conduit as well. The water in the conduit will not be at a level higher than the pool water, so it will not bubble out of the junction box.
