Does your pump run 24/7 year round?
If so, leaving the SWG on won't hurt anything. Once the water gets cold enough, the SWG will stop producing.
Of course, you still need to test on a regular schedule to be sure the FC and other chems are within range.
Water temp now is 56 but it's gonna be air temp 80-85 for about a week. If it won't harm the cell electronics I'd just as soon let it run if it decides it needs to upbuntil January here I guess. Only time I'll run the pumpbover 6 hours a day is when it's gonna freeze.
Is it a Hayward cell? My AquaRite produced chlorine all the way down to 50f last year, shutting down only when temp reached 49f, giving me a couple of extra months of chlorine production, especially when compared to other SWCG brands that typically stop producing at closer to 60f.
According to the manual it shuts down at 50f but turns back on at 55f.
- The “Temp LOW” message is displayed near 50°F. Operation will resume once temperatures rise near 55°F.
- The “Temp HIGH” message is displayed near 140°F. Operation will resume once temperatures fall near 130°F.
I never shut mine down although my controller controls not only the SWG but all the other equipment as well so I really can't turn off the entire controller although I could just turn off the SWG when water temps get lower than 50f but I see no reason to do that.
